Gregory is an old college friend of Campus agent Jack Ryan, Jr.. He later became an operations officer in the CIA and was assigned to Tehran, Iran. In 2010, he met with Ryan for lunch one day while Ryan had been in Tehran for a routine intelligence gathering trip for The Campus
