In 2008, Corrales was the leader of the Juarez Cartel's enforcer gang, Los Caballeros. He was also assigned as a bodyguard of cartel leader Jorge Rojas' son, Miguel. His connections to the cartel later drew the attention of CIA agent and Task Force Juarez member Max Moore. Moore had planned to kidnap Corrales along with Miguel and his girlfrield Sonia while they were vacationing in the town of San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico. Before Moore could carry out his plan, however, Guatemalan death squad Buitres Justicieros, who had a blood feud with Corrales, abducts the couple as well as Corrales and the other bodyguards. Corrales manages to barely escape.
After hiding from Juarez Cartel and his immediate boss Fernando Castillo in particular, Corrales turns himself in to Sinaloa Cartel leader Ernesto ZuƱiga after surviving an attack that kills his girlfriend. From his ranch house in Juarez, Mexico, ZuƱiga contacts Moore, who later extracts Corrales from a bloody shootout with sicarios sent by Castillo where ZuƱiga is killed. Corrales then provides the joint task force with evidence of Rojas's association with the Juarez Cartel.
